Board Of Governors
The Law Foundation is administered by a Board of Governors responsible for governing the Foundation and making all granting decisions. The Board has seven volunteer members: appointed under the provisions of the Law Society Act, 1999:
- The Minister of Justice or his or her appointee;
- A person who is not a member or bencher of the Law Society, who shall be appointed by the Minister of Justice; and
- 5 members of the Law Society in good standing who shall be appointed by the benchers.
The benchers designate the Chair of the Board of Governors.
Governors hold office for four years and are eligible for reappointment after the expiry of their first term of office. After a governor holds office for a period of 8 consecutive years, he/she is not eligible for re-appointment for 12 months.
