Our Work
The Board of Governors of the Law Foundation of NL meet annually to review grants funding applications for programs or projects that advance public understanding of the law and access to legal services. The grant review meeting is normally held in May or June of each year and completed applications must be submitted by April 15 (or later, as determined by the Board) to be considered.
Part IV of the Law Society Act, 1999 states that the Law Foundation must transfer 2/3 of the net revenue received in each calendar year directly to the Newfoundland and Labrador Legal Aid Commission. For 2023-2024 the Law Foundation made a mandatory contribution of $4,234,745 to Legal Aid.
