Under Part IV of the Law Society Act, 1999, the Law Foundation is authorized to receive and manage interest from lawyers’ general trust accounts. All members of the Law Society and professional law corporations must maintain an approved interest-bearing account for client funds that are held in trust. In order to make sure the interest that accumulates on such accounts is directed to the Law Foundation, Form LF1 must be completed by lawyers and submitted to their bank or credit union. A copy should be maintained by the lawyer or form and another copy should be sent to the Law Foundation for our records.
