Our Staff
Kirsten Morry, currently on parental leave, joined the Law Foundation as Executive Director in September 2023. She obtained a dual degree in Civil Law and Common Law from McGill University’s Faculty of Law and holds a B.A. (Hons) in history from Memorial University.
Dr. Tom Mahoney is the Interim Executive Director of the Law Foundation Newfoundland and Labrador. He has a Ph.D. in Law from the University of Manchester, England, a Master’s degree in Post-Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in psychology from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
He worked with the John Howard Society of Newfoundland, as a supervisor of youth in Open Custody and as Director of a clinical treatment program for adult offenders. He was also a judicial educator with the National Judicial Institute. Following his Ph.D., he then returned to Newfoundland and Labrador as the Executive Director, Worker Services with Newfoundland and Labrador workers’ compensation.
As Interim Executive Director of the Law Foundation, Tom aims to drive the Foundation’s mandate. He has a collaborative leadership style that emphasizes equity, inclusion, and social justice. His comprehensive approach and dedication to the law and justice will serve the Foundation in its goal of being a community leader in law-related initiatives and legal education. Tom’s vision includes expanding community outreach and fostering partnerships with other organizations to further the objects of the Law Foundation. Outside of his work, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and family, travelling, kayaking, woodworking and sports.
